Mosaic – Newcomer Family Resource Network is a not for profit agency assisting in the settlement of newcomers to Winnipeg by providing community-based English as an Additional Language classes and family programs that include childcare for pre-school aged children

Job Overview

The Director of Family Programs is responsible for day-to-day management, fundraising and sustainability for the wide range of family and community programs offered by Mosaic. The position includes program promotion and activities  to ensure the ongoing capacity development of newcomers. The Director of Family Programs works closely with the Family Program Team in managing the day-to-day operations of all Family Programs in several community locations. The position involves fund sourcing, grant and report writing, program evaluation, data collection, and employee and program management.

Key Responsibilities

Human Resource Development

  • Direct supervision of the Family Programs team
  • Mentor and build internal capacity of Family Program Co-ordinators including in the writing and submission of small grants and reports

Financial Management and Fundraising

  • Primary responsibility for seeking funds, writing letters of enquiry, promoting Mosaic’s many programs and services to potential funders
  • Report on all Family Program grant funds; working with Family Program co-ordinators to ensure adherence to all grant requirements and manage the collection of data and narrative information for all reports
  • Manage the program budgets from multiple funders and keep meticulous financial records
  • Submit all grant claims

Program Development

  • Provide oversight for all Mosaic family programs
  • Maintain strong community partnerships and establish new partnerships as required
  • Promote Mosaic’s Family Resource Centre and all other Mosaic programs and services within the community including through outreach and recruitment of families
  • Develop and implement program evaluation measures
  • Report on all Family Program grant funds; working with Family Program co-ordinators to ensure adherence to all grant requirements and manage the collection of data and narrative information for all reports

Committee/Team Support

  • As a member of the senior management team, the Director of Family Programs is required to be a part of joint decision making on a broad range of agency topics
  • Represent Mosaic at various community committees and sector tables
  • Represent Mosaic in third party partnerships for example in pilot projects, and national initiatives with organizations like Families Canada and Positive Discipline in Everyday Life

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field of study, including but not limited to: non-profit management, community development, Early Childhood Education, Social Work, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 5 years experience in non-profit management at a senior level
  • Experience writing successful funding proposals and developing and maintaining positive relationships with funders
  • Experience developing and managing all aspects of community programs
  • Previous financial management experience including managing a large program budget
