This position is part-time, in-person. Two positions are available.
Job Overview
The ESL teacher is responsible for planning and implementing English as a second language classes for Literacy and stage 1 adult learners in the LINC – Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada program.
Role and Responsibility:
- Plan and teach settlement focussed lessons each week to a group of adult learners
- Plan course content based on results of student needs assessment
- Implement portfolio-based language assessment (PBLA) for each learner
- Assess student progress and prepare reports based on Canadian Language Benchmarks
- Work co-operatively with the on-site childcare staff to provide support to parents and their children when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Teaching English as a Second Language Certificate from a TESL Canada certified institution
- Undergraduate degree
- CLB Boot Camp Certificate (course available online http://learning.language.ca/login/index.php)
- Experience teaching Canadian Language Benchmark Stage 1 and Literacy learners in a multi-level environment
- Knowledge of Phonics and reading acquisition an asset
- Knowledge of the Canadian Language Benchmarks and PBLA
- PBLA and Avenue.ca training an asset
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to the settlement process for newcomers
Position Details:
- Job type: Permanent with three unpaid breaks during the year
- Winter break: Approximately two weeks
- Spring break: Approximately one week
- Summer break: Approximately two months
- Hourly rate: $52.91 (probation rate), 9 hours per week (this includes prep time and meetings)
- Start date: September 2, 2025
- This position is eligible for Mosaic’s group benefits after successful completion of a probation period (6 months).

- Job schedule: 9h hours a week, Monday to Thursday, 9:30 am to 11:45 am
- Job location: Fort Garry Mennonite Brethren Church, 1771 Pembina Highway
Position 2: CLB 2,3
- Job schedule: 9h hours a week, Monday to Thursday, 9:15 am to 11:30 am
- Job location: Knox United Church, 406 Edmonton Street
