Job Overview
The Newcomer Summer Camp Activity Leader will be responsible for the planning, organization and implementation of a daily summer activity program for children ages 6 to 11 under the supervision of the Program Co-ordinator.
Responsibilities
- Planning, organizing and leading daily activities with children
- Completing and submitting weekly program planning forms in consultation with the program co-ordinator
- Connecting regularly with the on-site program Coordinator
- Collecting and submitting attendance
- Maintaining and regularly checking the inventory of the program supplies, and helping with the shopping for materials as needed
- Coordinating program details like snack, room set up and clean up
- Ensuring that any incidents are immediately and accurately reported
Qualifications
- Have been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year
- Between the ages of 18 and 30 years at the start of employment
- Be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident or a person to whom refugee protection has been conferred
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
- First Aid certificate is required
- Police Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Abuse Registry Check
- Sense of fun and enthusiasm
- Experience taking care of young children
- Strength, stamina, and ability to work with active, young children
- Ability to communicate in English (Minimum CLB 6), language other than English is an asset
- Knowledge of family literacy, child development and Positive Discipline is an asset
- Demonstrated leadership and program planning abilities
- Ability to work cooperatively in a non-profit and multicultural organization
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Job Details:
- Start/end date: July 7, 2025 – August 15, 2025
- Schedule: Monday to Friday 9:00 – 3:30, total 30 hours per week
- Rate of Pay: $16.61 per hour
- Location: 397 Carlton Street, with possibilities of other locations including parks.
