The Family Engagement Mentorship (FEM) Program is a 170-hour volunteer practicum designed to help newcomer individuals gain practical experience, build professional skills, and prepare for employment in early years and family-serving organizations.
This certificate program combines structured training, mentorship, and hands-on practicum experience to support participants in developing the confidence and competencies needed to work in early learning, childcare, and community settings.
What the Program Offers

- Bonding with Family Bookmaking (Facilitator Training)
- Turtle Island Project Experiential Exercise
Additional Credentials
When available, participants may also obtain:
- Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
- Child Abuse Registry Check
- First Aid Certification
- Food Handler Certification
- Resume, cover letter and job search supports
The FEM Program equips participants with practical experience, recognized training, and enhanced employability in the early years and family support sector.
Priority for this program is given to newcomer women who are Canadian citizens. Limited spaces for Permanent Residents are also available.
